Valentine's Day, everyday!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I hope you have a wonderful day full of love, joy and happiness and may it last throughout the year.  I must confess, I am a firm believer that Valentine's Day should be everyday, it should not just be celebrated once a year but everyday.  Guess what?  Yesterday was Valentine's Day, tomorrow will be Valentine's Day, next week, next month, six months from now will be Valentine's Day.  We do not need one calendar day of the year to celebrate love and friendship, God has given us so much love that one day is not sufficient to spread that wonderful Agape Love.

If you do not have a Valentine this year; don't fret, this date is about celebrating great friendships as well. And as you are waiting for "the one" enjoy the wonderful memories you are creating with your friends. The bible not only speaks about God's great love towards us but He also speaks about longing to be our friends.  Are you looking for someone who will not betray or backstab you?  Are you looking for a friend who will always be there for you despite what you may be going through?  I know someone who knows the true definition of loyalty!  The bible says, that He will never leave nor forsake you, I want to introduce to you, my friend Jesus.  He wants to be your friend too and trust me, I'm ok with my friend being your friend too! :)

Today, as we celebrate Valentine's Day I wanted to share something very special and dear to my heart.  Every single year, I pull this aside [my sister already knows this!] and show it to my father.  And it's a Valentine's Day card he gave me when I was two years old and I've kept it ever since.  Today, it will be 30 years since my dad gave me that card [shucks! now you figured out my age!=/ lol] so it's a really big deal for me that fact that I still have this card my father gave me. It just shows how great of a father I have and the impact it's made in my life all these years.  [side note: Fathers, doesn't matter how young your child is, start doing things with them early on because those gestures will carry on in your child's life forever]  My dad probably thought he was doing something cute at the time by giving his two year old daughter a Valentine's Day card but little did he know that I would conserve it over the years and that it's a memory keepsake that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Here is a picture of the card my dad gave to me.  A couple years ago, he framed it for me to avoid wear and tear.  I love this card because of it's sentimental value. It's my favorite and will always be my favorite Valentine's card.

I encourage you today to love.  Love your family, love your friends, love your neighbor.  The greatest commandment is to love God with all of your heart and then love your neighbor as you love yourself.  This world would be so much better if there was less selfishness and more selflessness. Although Valentine's Day is February 14th of every year, let's make it a point to celebrate it everyday of the year.

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!
