Decision

Last night I was speaking to a group of young people about Elijiah and the widow woman (1Kings 17:8-16) And my main focus was one simple, yet life-changing word: DECISION. This woman had to make a decision; a life-altering decision that would affect her life, her son's life and ultimately their future.  What was she going to do?  Would she feed the man of God first or her child and herself?

I truly believe that God is looking for people who are committed to making a firm decision. People who are willing to stick to their decision regardless of what the outcome may be. The bible clearly shows that she had to make a choice.  What was she to do?  She decided to walk out in faith and obey the word of God, even though she did not fully understand the purpose.  She did know that there was a plan.  God was stirring a wonderful plan for her life in which her eyes would see it come to pass.

1. Faith is NOW.  This woman did not tell Elijiah, "you know what, let me think about it and I will get back to you tomorrow.  No! Faith is now.  Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year but NOW.  She decided to believe right then and there.  She said, you know what God, I may not understand why I am going through this but I trust you.  And I know the word you declared over my life will come to pass because you are no man to lie or go back on your word.  She walked out on faith!

2.Obedience brings forth Blessings.  Not only did she decide to obey BUT she decided to step out in faith.  You see, the bible says that faith without works is dead. You have to act out on your faith, mobilize that faith.  And obedience does that.  This woman decided to obey and her obedience brought her provision to her household.  Obedience will draw in blessings.

We see at the end of this story how God kept His promise to this woman.  I want to tell you today that if God declared a word over your life.  Believe it! That promise shall come to pass but you must be able to make a decision and walk out in faith in complete obedience.  Many times we will not understand His plans in our lives but we are not called to understand, we are called to obey.  I encourage you to read this story, it will bless your life.  There is provision for your life!

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!

Thanks for sharing!

Such a great reminder that delayed obedience is disobedience.

Help us, Lord, walk in faith and obey your commands--whatever they might be.

Blessings,
Daphne
