I missed writing so much but I'm back!
So, we're all in the holiday spirit, right? We have our christmas trees up, our decorations are on point, Christmas music is starting to blast on our radios, ahh 'tis the season to be jolly!
But lets rewind for a minute, lets go back to Thanksgiving, which I'm sure we all had amazing dinners with family and lots of food! And how can we forget about Black Friday, which this year resulted in Black Thursday because the stores decided to open up earlier. It was a weekend full of fun, family, food and shopping.
As I always say, we do not have to wait until the third Thursday of the month of Novemeber to gather around and give Thanks. Everyday should be Thanksgiving for us, agreed? So many times we take for granted the things we have and the blessings we have received. God doesn't wait until Christmas to give you a gift you desire, right? The Bible says: Call onto me and I shall answer (Jeremiah 33:3) this means that if you ask God for something, He will answer you. He does not wait until December 25th to bless you; it could be March 9th, June 21st, August 3rd, or October 15th... it doesn't matter. He is always there to provide for your needs, to heal your sicknesses, to restore your home, to give you that job you need, to answer that prayer request you have. He is in the business of blessing you not on a certain day but everyday!
So, then why do many of us, wait until Thanksgiving night to give thanks to God for His many blessings. We should be thanking Him each and every day. Last week was Thanksgiving, yesterday was Thanksgiving, today is Thanksgiving, tomorrow will be Thanksgiving, next month will also be Thanksgiving. Everyday is Thanksgiving for those who are appreciative and acknowledge that what they have is not because of thier "hard work" but because of God's grace in their lives. Let's stop worrying about the big things and let's start appreciating the little things. Thank God for the breath of life you have today, because you were able to wake up this morning, thank God for the strength you have to get out of bed and go to work everyday. It's all about the little things that we tend to take for granted. Those little things are what lead us to do the big things in life.
Today, I want to encourage you to open up your heart, not to receive but to give. Giving is so much more gratifying than receiving! The act of giving inspires, motivates and encourages others. Tangible items and material things are not the only things you can give to others. A smile does not cost a thing but it can brighten someone's day. A hug can dissipate the loneliness someone feels. A compliment can uplift someone's self esteem. You can really impact someone's life and it won't cost you a thing but it could mean everything for that person. There are so many act of kindness that result in a great Thanksgiving.
We would all love to have a message therapy everyday, right? It helps us release stress, our mood changes immediately, we are relaxed, feeling happy and good about ourselves. Giving back is therapeutic, its medicine to the soul and it makes us feel better. Let's show someone the act of Thanksgiving!
Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!
