Join the Cause

Usually Saturdays are my days to sleep in but not this past one. I was up bright and early for a for a special cause. The worship team from my church & I were going to be giving back to our community and we were all so excited!

We all met up early to wrap some presents for the kids at The Shriner's Children Hospital.  It felt so good to give up a Saturday morning of sleep just so we can focus on this great cause.  It breaks my heart to think that so many children will be spending their Christmas in a hospital or in a rehabilitation center instead of their homes. We were all compelled and just knew this the was right thing to do.

It was a great experience! Although they did not allow us to see any children but we were able to meet some wonderful people that day.  Our tour guy, Don gave us a tour of the entire hospital and it was remarkable to see an innovative facility that strives to help every child who is in need, regardless of their family's financial status.

A couple hours later, we walked out inspired and with a fresh new vision.  It's not about us! The holiday season is not meant to be confined amongst me, my family, and my friends.  Christmas is not only about buying presents for our nuclear circles. What about everyone else out there? There are so many people, young and old who are hurting every single day. Our society needs more people who is willing to think less of themselves and more about others.

I can't wait for our next project which will involve children as well. We will be reaching out to the Children's Cancer Center Unit of The Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. And we are all looking forward to continue and impact these innocent hurting lives in a positive way.  A smile goes a long way!

Let our passion burn deeply and our compassion consume us greatly! I encourage you today to join the cause and plant a seed of hope in someone's life, in due time that seed will flourish. Giving back is so rewarding and self satisfying, wouldn't trade it for the world!

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!
