Fashionable Faith

Ever heard of that saying: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?" We all have, right? This basically means that beauty is subjective. What may be beautiful to me is not necessarily beautiful to you and vise-versa.  Today's society has made a conscience effort to consume us with false beauty. The stigma is that if you do not look a certain way, you are not beautiful.  And I am here to tell you, NO! that is not true.  You are beautiful! You may look different than others but you are beautiful.  Psalms 139:14 says that we were wonderfully and fearfully made! God made a marvelous creation when He made you. You are not a mistake; God certainly does not make mistakes, He is perfect in all His ways.

If we would take possession of that word, accept and believe it, there would be less people feeling insecure about themselves. Forget the image Hollywood is trying to sell you when you pick up the tabloid issues at the magazine stands. Forget the billion dollar advertising industry when they try to sell you something on tv, it is all fake! You do not need to look like anyone to make yourself feel good.  The Bible says; Paul speaking, be imitators of me as I am of Christ.  Jesus is the only one who you should be following, He is the only one you should aspire to look, act, and speak like.  When our thoughts are aligned with the word of God and His promises, then there is no room for look alike competitions or self-esteem issues. Look to Jesus because He looks at you as the beholder who says: You're beautiful!

This week, I met with a friend, Mayra Gomez for lunch and we were catching up on the projects and events we have going on in our lives.  And I just had to share with you all about all of the great things she does to empower women [especially teenage girls] in our community.  She is the founder of Model 4 Jesus, Tru Model and a website editor for Tampa Bay Fashion.  Clearly, she is well involved in the fashion industry and has been for all of her career.  And as a former model and today, as an influencial business woman, I love the fact that her core mission is to help out young women acheive thier dreams in a way that it will bring glory to God.  So many girls out there need to hear the truth about inner and outer beauty.  Many need more programs that will cater to their needs and Tru Model embarks on tremendous life-changing programs that focuses on self-esteem, intergrity, love, vision, poise and health. They also train for modeling, acting, character building and many many more things they have to offer.  Check out their website! www.trumodel.com

Many are called to be preachers, others are called to be worshippers, teachers, leaders, or even fashionista/model, such as Mayra.  She has found that this is the place where God has placed her and she is able to show God's love to so many girls who may lack love.  She offers God's hope to those who may not have hope.  And the message of faith, hope and love is being instilled in so many lives.  I encourage you to show God's love to others through what you do.  If you're a lawyer, banker, student, bus driver.. whatever your profession may be, you have the opportunity to impact and change someone's life today.

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!
