Showers of Mercy

I think about how merciful God is towards each and everyone of us every single day! I thank Him for simply being God because if it were up to any of us, I'm sure we would have been written off a long time ago. We just don't have the patience to tolerate people's wrongdoings time after time, am I right or am I right?  But thank God, we are not God!  One of his characteristics is that He is loving and merciful, the bible says His mercy endure forever. 

What is mercy?  Mercy is like a judge finding you guilty, but then withholding any punishment. Wow! talk about getting a break, huh? Everyday we receive mercy from Him, even when we are guilty of certain actions, words or even thoughts, we get that undeserving "break."  My question is, where would we be today if it weren't for His mercy?  The bible also says that through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:22-23. 

Despite our unfaithfulness, He continues to be faithful to us, faithful to His word and faithful to the promises He has made to each and everyone of us.  It doesn't matter how many times you fail, His love is unfailing.  How awesome is that?  I don't know how many people would be willing to put up with some of our attitudes, actions, habits and lifestyles time after time, year after year without getting tired and simply walking away.  But I do know someone who has vowed to stay by our side no matter what.  Now, there is a thin line between "Oh, let me do whatever I want because I know God will forgive me and his mercy will cover me. " God don't like people who try to take advantage of him, so be careful and don't take his kindness for granted.  But I will tell you this, as humans we are not perfect and we will fail him but if we come to Him with a sincere heart, we will be shown mercy.

Imagine looking outside your window on a rainy day, showers of rain coming down and just soaking everything that is outside.  Can you visualize it?  Now, picture yourself outside, just getting drenched from head to toe with the rain.  That's how God's love, mercy and grace drenches you every single day of your life.  He loves you so much, He has delivered you from accidents, sicknesses, even death.  His mercy in your life are endless, and he showers you with grace too.  What is grace? Grace is basically getting something you could never have imagined. Simply an undeserving gift.

I encourage you today to let yourself be showered by God's gifts. When you feel like your life is going nowhere and you start complaining about the things you do not have, thank God for the things you do have. And remember the next time you see rain pouring down and soaking everything outside, just visualize God pouring down His abundant blessings over your life and drenching you with love, mercy and grace.  I want to leave you with this beautiful song!
