Gentle Whisper

Ever needed to hear a word from God.. desperately? I think we've all come to that crossroad at some point in our lives where we just need to get some answers. Is it fair to say that we can all relate?

It's tough because it almost feels as though when we need to hear from Him the most, nothing happens, we don't see or hear anything and we're like.. ok, I'm waiting!!!  It's quite frustrating but I assure you God is paying close attention to your request.

The bible speaks about a man, Elijiah, who received instructions from God.  He told him, go to the mountain and wait until I pass by. It really took for him to fine tune his spiritual ears and eyes to see what was to come his way.  I say this because many times, we're going to think God will operate a certain way in our lives and He won't. We probably think He will speak to us how He usually does but maybe God has a different method.  The point is, don't ever place God in a box. He thinks, speaks and acts 'outside the box.' Just when you thought things would happen a certain way, He blows your mind away with a completely different way.

Let's see what the scriptures says in 1Kings 19:11,12

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.

God finally spoke to Elijiah in a gentle whisper! Not what He expected, huh? It wasn't through the wind, earthquake or fire, it was through a still small voice.  Sometimes we have so much going on in our lives, we are so busy with work, school, family and church that we forget to slow down.

If you've been waiting for an answer from God and you quite haven't heard anything yet; turn down the volume. Everything around you is too loud! He's trying to whisper the answer in your ear. Simply allow God to do as He pleases in your life, don't put any restrictions or limitations because He is limitless.

I encourage you today to focus completely on God and just listen to that gentle whisper that will give you direction and clarity on what is going on in your life. If Elijiah hadn't been paying attention and had been focused on the wind, earthquake or fire, He would have missed God in His life.  Don't let God pass you by! It is through the gentle whisper that you may receive your healing, you may receive that miracle that you've been waiting for.  Through that gentle whisper you may receive a life-changing experience that only God can give when we are focused completely in Him.

Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!
