The Vow

With Valentine's Day around the corner, I think "The Vow" is the perfect weekend movie!  I have been waiting for it to come out and I'm definitely excited to watch it! What intrigues me the most about this flick is it's title "The Vow." It's such a short and yet powerful statement. We generally tend to think of weddings when we see or hear those words. So, for you single ladies and fellas out there; hold on a second! Before you run out and think this is just another couples blog; you too can relate to this, I promise.
What is a vow?  It's a solemne promise, pledge or personal commitment. It can be between a man and a woman in marriage, a vow can be amongst family and friends.  A vow is also when we devote ourselves to God. I've noticed something quite bothersome, nowadays people are not committed to their vows.  They get all caught up in the moment of making such beautiful and powerful declarations that when the moment of truth knocks at our doors, we run! When the love or friendship is tested, the commitment that one day was made falls through as well.  Nowadays, people do not want to fight for what they one day said they would do.  Why?  Why is it so hard to stick to your vow?

The greatest vow has been, is and will remain to be the act of love Jesus did for us on the cross. Yes, more than words, He acted. [I think He remembered the great saying: Actions speak louder than words.] He solemnly promised to be by our side everyday of our lives, despite the hard times.  Notice how easy it is for us to steer away from Him when things do not go quite our way but He never leaves our side.  He continues to love us, protect our families, give us health and bless our lives.

I know when times get tough, we get caught up with everything and everyone in our lives, many times leaving God in last place.  But today, I want to encourage you to remember "The Vow."  In good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, God will always love and care for you.  You will remain priority on His list.  He will comfort and provide for you when in need.  That is His Vow to you, what is yours?  Despite what you are going through, always remember your vow to God, to yourself and to your family and friends.  Those are the ones who will always be there for you in your highs and lows and when you need them the most.

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!
