Can't Stop

Yesterday, I came across this simple yet powerful quote: “If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it” and it made me really think about it. If you can't stop, then don't stop but do something about it.

There are two key words that strike me immediately when reading this statement and it is thinking and working. What is it that you are constantly thinking about? What are you continuously talking about? What consumes your thoughts? What are the things that are taking space in your mind? These are very important questions to ask yourself because ultimately that will lead to your passion; what really burns inside of you.  Once you’ve figured out that very thing or things that you can’t stop thinking about then the next question is: What are you doing about it? Are you working toward it? Are you working for it? Sometimes we get stuck at this point. We just think about it, we just wish upon it but in order to achieve it, you must reach for it. Action must be taken and action requires mobility and hard work!

I encourage you today that no matter what you have in your heart, and in your mind; work hard and push forward until you see it come into existence. Dreams are sowed in our heads, nurtured in our hearts and reaped through our hard work. You want to see your dreams blossom into a beautiful reality? Work hard! I wish it were easier but there are no shortcuts or easy way out. As I heard once, the way to success is by taking the stairs, not the elevator. "There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs". The elevator experience will never give you a true perspective of your journey.  As you’re taking the stairs to your place of destiny, enjoy the ride and the beautiful and not so beautiful scenery, for they are experiences that will mold you and shape you into the person you need to be in order to deliver the task you were called to do.

Remember if you can't stop, don't stop because there is a greater purpose that awaits you!

Just a little tighter

While I was in NYC this past weekend, I came across the news that two of our beloved church members, one of them being a family member of mine had passed away. This has been a rough week, having to go to two back to back funerals has not been easy. And to have to find out in last night’s funeral that another beloved church member passed is just heart breaking. Our church family is definitely mourning these wonderful people who will be terribly missed.

In the mist of grief, I can’t help but to hold on to my loved ones just a little tighter, hug them just a little tighter, kiss them just a little tighter. Situations such as this, definitely puts everything into perspective and helps you prioritize your life a little better. Questions such as: What’s really important? Should I be dwelling, breaking a sweat, consuming my time and energy on this, that and the other? What is really important in life is my question to you today.

For me: God, Family, and Friends. Having a constant relationship with my Lord and Savior who assures that His peace surpasses all understanding and that no matter what whirlwind of emotions may be rushing towards me- He is my peace! My family is my core, support group. They keep me grounded and show unconditional love. We all need family because family sticks with you in good times and in bad and no one will be as loving and accepting as your family. Friends keep me happy, free spirited and alive. True friendship is hard to find but when you have a group of people who you can call friends, you feel on top of the world. With God in your life, you are able to experience true joy and happiness despite what your current situation may look like.

Today, I want to encourage you to think about what’s important in your life? Maybe you think your career is the most important thing right now, maybe its school or even trying to reach your dreams. Those are all good and I often speak about being assertive and chase after your dreams but make sure the main ingredients are always present: God, Family, Friends. It’s very sad to reach a level of success or “happiness” if you have nobody to share it with. It’s heartbreaking when you’re going through a storm in your life and you have nobody to turn too. We should never feel alone; celebrate with people, mourn with people.

What do your priorities look like? Who or what is on top? If it doesn’t look like this: God, Family and Friends then it’s time to make some changes. Tonight when you see your husband and kids, hug and kiss just a little tighter. If your parents are alive, that is a blessing in itself, tell them how much you love them and give them the biggest squeeze ever! Tell your siblings how much of a pain in the butt they are but that you wouldn’t trade it for the world! Send your friends a quick message saying how much you appreciate their crazy friendships. Tell God how much you love Him! Tell the whole world how love should abound and hate – well… get out!

Life is too short, I know we have all heard that and it’s become pretty cliché but when death hits home, it brings a whole different meaning. Cherish your loved ones. We are here today and gone tomorrow. James 4:14 says” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.”  Lets make the best out of the gift of life that has been given to us; it’s time to appreciate it instead of always complaining about it. Let’s encourage and inspire those around us and may our legacy continue to live even after we have left this world.

The Success Creepers

I felt in my heart to share this with you and I hope it encourages you to keep on keeping on. We all struggle with insecurities and frustrations that do not allow us to progress in whatever we have set our minds to do or in whatever God has called us to do. It is important to remember that we are humans and we have feelings. Even the greatest and most successful people have their fair share of not so good days. Let’s face it; someone will always be stronger than you, better than you, more successful than you but that’s not the point. Congratulations to them! The big questions is, are you happy with yourself and are you confident with what you can accomplish despite what others may say or do? Everyone has a purpose in life and has been called to do something great.

Today, I want to talk about three things that will always try to creep up on you to deflate your spirits and discourage you from succeeding. It will try to disturb your peace but don’t let it get to you because it can become a nightmare.

Ok, so what are these nightmares? It's what I call, The Success Creepers.
WMF {Weakness, Mess-Ups and Failures}

Your weakness is an opportunity for God’s strength to show up.  The bible says that in our weakness we are made strong because of His power. It also says that we can do ALL things that strengthen us, how? Through Christ! Don’t be afraid to show your weakness because when you’re weak, you really are strong!

Your mess- ups are lessons learned in this journey called life. We all make mistakes! The bible is full of great men of God who make mistakes.  The important thing is to not dwell in our past but look forward.  The past is there to remind us of the lessons we have learned but our goal is always to look ahead, because it is in the future where we can see our greatest dreams accomplished. Look and move forward!

Your failures allow you to fine-tuning and perfect your success. Look at it as a big puzzle that you’re trying to solve and that puzzle is your life. You’re trying to see the big picture-hence reach your purpose in life. Failure is simply placing the wrong piece to the puzzle, it won’t fit. You have failed to put the correct puzzle piece in its proper place. So what do you do? You pick an alternative piece and try to find the one that will successfully fit.  Do not get discouraged when you try something and fail, it simply means there is another way of achieving it so you must find the correct one. Try again and again and again!

In life, different obstacles will try to creep up on us to discourage us from reaching our goals, they creep up on us when we're on the verge of success.  And their sole objective is to deflate our energy, strength, enthusiasm, our vision and our dreams. Don't allow it! Embrace your weakness- great opportunities arise when we allow God to take over and become our source of strength. Recognize your mess-ups, learn from it and move on. And don’t get discouraged with your failures, it’s a matter of trial and error, if it doesn’t work one way, keep trying, you’ll eventually get it- you’re bound to find the right puzzle piece.

Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!

Road Map

I remember going on family road trips alot when I was younger.  We would leave Florida to venture off to various states such as Texas, Indiana, and all along the east coast to the Tri-State and New England area.  These trips would be so much fun and are still very memorable.

One thing I do remember is my dad always having a road map handy, we didn't have a GPS back then (with that being said, I am NOT old!) Lol.  He would never leave home without it because it contained valuable information that we would need in order to get to our final destination.  Whenever we felt we were getting lost, the map was readily available to help us get back on track.

What am I trying to say?  In life we need a road map that will lead us into our destination.  Purpose is our destination and goals are what will propel us to get there.  Not only do you need a goal, you must have a plan in full effect.  How will you get there?  When will you get there?  Even if you do not have all of the details ironed out, your vision must be clear! You have to be able to look at that road map and know what direction is North, South, East and West.  When looking at your goals; you must ultimately know, where that goal is taking you.

Many of our plans fail because we fail to plan.  Education and preparation is key to a successful business, project, dream or goal.  Take the time to not only wish for it, but work for it.  There's nothing wrong with dreaming, just make sure you're awake and alert to make your dreams come true.

God has poured out His heart's desires into our hearts and it is up to us to see what we will do with it.  We have the ability through Him to do great things in life, what is stopping us?  Do you find yourself lost in the middle of the road? If so, pick up the road map, it has all of the instructions and specifications you need to get back on track.  Success is as close or as far as you want it to be.  Like Sheryl Brady says:  You Have It In You!

Be Blessed, Be Encouraged!

Passion to Dream

Today I want to speak about PASSION, focusing specifically on having passion for your dreams. Ever heard that quote:  How bad do you want it?  Today, I challenge you with the same question, how bad to you want your dreams to come true?  You see, that's what passion is all about.

Passion is the ability to see beyond your limits, its being able to block off the negativity and focusing on positive.  Passion is being able to touch, feel and taste victory before it's yours.  Passion is working beyond the pain and the impossibilities, passion is finding a way to strive and jump over hurdles.  Passion is fuel that keeps the fire going. Your drive in life should lead you to succeed in anything you set out to do.

I have a question for you today?  Are you passionate?  What are you passionate about? Can you work through the pain?  Can you maneuver through the loopholes and obstacles that are presented? Does NO, CAN'T, IMPOSSIBLE energize you to prove the world wrong and work harder toward your goals?  If you answered yes to this, then congratulations; you have passed the passion test.

I encourage you to look past the difficulties and keep fighting for what you want.  God gives you the dream but you have to cultivate the passion.  Are you passionate enough to see your dreams come true?  It's not going to be a walk in the park but I must ask again; how bad do you want it?

Passion is the heartbeat that gives life to your dreams.  If you have not shed sweat, blood and tears; you have not experimented true passion.  Keep your dreams alive by having passion in your life.

I encourage you to keep pressing, keep fighting, keep focused, having faith in the promises God has declared over your life. Remember faith without works is dead, so you must be active and work towards your dreams. There is no one better than God who is interested in your success. Let your passion propel you to overcoming any and every obstacle that presents itself in your way.

Be Encouraged, Be Blessed!
